Where Can I Serve?
Christ’s Kids Club*
First UMC believes in equipping and releasing children to live as passionate followers of God. Children are not only the church of tomorrow – they are already a vital part of the church today! The opportunities to serve in Christ’s Kids Club are plentiful. We have a passionate and devoted family of volunteers and would love for you to add your gifts and talents to the ministry. Whether your heart is in hospitality, teaching, music, crafts or games, we have a space for your unique gifts to be used for God’s glory and the transformation of young hearts for Him. Contact Tony & Kaci Flaugher at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Whenever somebody contacts the church, we are sure to have a friendly and knowledgeable individual to greet them! If you enjoy helping others in an administrative setting, we would be happy to have you join our faithful team of office volunteers! Let us know how much time you would like to serve with us each month and we will make it happen. Training is provided. Contact Linda Steinke at email@example.com if you would like to be involved.
At First UMC we are dedicated to the notion of radical hospitality. On Sunday mornings, the roles that our hospitality team fills range from welcoming individuals at the door and preparing refreshments to ushering during the worship services. We desire for everybody to feel welcome when they join us to worship God. You are invited to share your heart for hospitality as a member of our team.
Media & Technology
The use of media and technology to share and spread the message of the Gospel has grown significantly in today’s church worldwide. First United Methodist Church uses technology as a tool of worship; from Sunday worship service visuals and recording to sound mixing for the worship team. Training is provided for individuals who would like to share their talents through this ministry. Please contact Kathy Hefner at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Music & Worship
First UMC desires to lift heartfelt praises to God through passionate worship. We have opportunities for vocalists and musicians to join our worship ministry.
The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. and sings at the 9:00 a.m. worship service – no auditions are required. Contact David Clark at 417.532.7153 for more information.
The worship team rehearses on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. and leads worship at the 11:00 a.m. service. Contact Joe Pulley at email@example.com for more information.
At FUMC, we value the community and believe that God calls us to love and serve our neighbors. Throughout the year, the Outreach Team organizes and sponsors a number of events to share Christ’s love in practical and encouraging ways. If you would like to share your passion for outreach, contact Jay and Sheri Rutherford by calling the church at 417.532.7153.
First United Methodist Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer and committed to lifting up others through prayers and petitions to God. Each Sunday during the morning services, a team of volunteers is praying for the ministry of the Word. Throughout the week, volunteers on our prayer team gather together to pray for special requests and concerns. If you have a heart for intercession, we welcome you to join our prayer team.
Stephen Ministers provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care and support to people experiencing grief, divorce, illness, job loss, loneliness, disability, relocation and other life difficulties. If you have gifts of leadership and care-giving with a genuine desire to help carry the burdens of hurting people within the church as well as the community, please prayerfully consider joining the Stephen Ministry team. More details can be provided by contacting the church office at 417.532.7153.
Emerge Student Ministry*
At First UMC, we desire to see student’s lives transformed by the power of Jesus Christ. There are many opportunities to serve in the student ministry, such as mentoring students through small group discussions, leading Bible studies, or even preparing meals or activities. Presence is one of the most powerful ways to serve and minister to students. If you seek to share your time and heart with youth, we welcome you to join us. Contact Tony & Kaci Flaugher or Ginna Broce at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
